Authentic Leader Workshop

Adult Stages of Development Workshop
Applying a Developmental Lens to Leadership Circle Profile Debriefs

Many factors influence the power and effectiveness of a TLCP debrief. We believe that one significant factor is adult developmental theory, which is already embedded in the TLCP. Equally important to a transformative debrief conversation are the developmental stages of both client and coach.  In this workshop we will explore the intersections of stage theory, leadership effectiveness theories that underpin the TLCP, and skillful use of self in debriefs.  Using both the Maturity Assessment Profile (MAP), which measures the stage of a person’s development, and the TLCP, we will correlate stage development with the competencies measured in the TLCP. (If you haven’t already taken the MAP, you will have an opportunity to do so before the workshop.)

We’ll begin with an introduction to stage theory, after which you’ll engage in a series of experiential exercises designed to highlight key areas for coaching leaders whose TLCP profiles range from highly reactive to highly creative. You will also explore how your personal MAP and TLCP results inform and influence your coaching approach.  The workshop will be highly interactive and conversational, giving you the opportunity to learn from others, as well as allowing for a deepening of your meaning making to occur in multiple domains.  Coaches who attend this workshop will be able to use the TLCP even more deliberately, and with an expanded view of what is possible for clients of any profile.

In this two and one half day workshop you will:

This workshop will:

Identify and describe various stages of adult development

Describe the relationship between the TLCP model and adult development theory based on research conducted on the TLCP and the MAP

Identify correlations between classical Leadership Circle profile patterns and conventional and post-conventional developmental stages

Anticipate likely responses (from resistance to enthusiastic embrace) to TLCP feedback by incorporating the adult developmental model in your preparation for a debrief

Design intervention strategies for clients using TLCP and MAP data

Deepen your self-awareness through investigating your personal TLCP feedback and MAP results

Explore your capacity to work in depth with clients and the TLCP based on your personal stage of development

Explore the different ways people with conventional meaning making systems tend to show up in a TLCP graph

Identify ways to powerfully engage your post-conventional clients with opportunities available to them in the Creative half of the circle

Practice skillfully meeting people who rely primarily upon reactive patterns and reduce the likelihood that you will be triggered by their reactivity

Gain insight into coaching situations and LCP debriefs where you have not felt 'at your best'

Feel more confident and competent in your use of TLCP
